ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
This educational activity will provide nurses and nurse practitioners with the tools and skills to engage patients with MS in a therapeutic alliance, promoting collaborative decision-making in individualized care planning and restoring quality of life.
LEARNING OBJECTIVE
Upon completion of this educational activity, learners will be able to:
- Implement strategies to educate and reinforce patient knowledge on treatment options for MS to facilitate health literacy and optimal clinical outcomes

FACULTY BIOGRAPHY
Megan R. Weigel, DNP, ARNP-c, MSCN, is an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner who has been practicing neurology for 13 years and has been an MS Certified Nurse for 9 of those years. She currently works at Baptist Neurology, Beaches Division in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, where she specializes in the care of MS patients. She received her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Florida in 2009, with a research focus on preventive healthcare in MS patients. Dr Weigel was chosen as one of Jacksonville’s “40 Under 40” by the Jacksonville Business Journal in 2010, and received an Outstanding Young Alumnus award from the University of Florida in 2010. She was recently chosen to be President Elect for the International Organization of Multiple Sclerosis Nurses (IOMSN) and serves on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of MS Care. She is a member of the North Florida chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Clinical Advisory Committee and acts as their Research Advocate. Dr Weigel is an active speaker across the country, both to patients and healthcare providers on topics related to the care of people living with MS, and is the Co-Founder of oMS Yoga, a yoga program for people living with MS.
